Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, a day that forever changed our nation and left an indelible mark on our memories.
For those of us old enough to remember it, we can often recall exactly where we were when we first heard the news. We remember the shock and sadness, the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the extraordinary courage of first responders and everyday Americans.
As we reflect on that day, let's also remember the spirit and resilience that followed. In the days and weeks after September 11, people came together. We checked on our neighbors, supported strangers, thanked those who served, and put aside many of the things that divided us.
Twenty-five years later, that spirit is worth remembering too.
Today, we honor those we lost, those who answered the call to help, and the families who continue to carry the impact of that day.
We will never forget.
